Tropical evergreen shrub (in warmer climates) widely grown for its fiery, variegated, mottled foliage. Leaves are oval and up to 8 inches long. Green- or copper-tinted catkin-like racemes appear periodically during the year. Often used in the place of flowering annuals. Excellent for use in well-drained containers.
